Surprised by Ram Singh's alleged suicide: Delhi gangrape victim's family
NEW DELHI: The family of the December 16 gangrape victim on Monday said they were "surprised but not saddened" by the main accused in the case allegedly committing suicide and are waiting for the four others to be sent to the gallows.

The brother of the victim said the family wanted the trial to be completed at the earliest.

"We are surprised at the suicide but we are not sad. He would have been hanged even otherwise. We wanted him to be hanged publicly. Now we are waiting for the four others to be sent to gallows," he said.

The brother did not suspect any foul play and said guilt might have caught on to him.

He said Singh knew that there was strong evidence against him and that he was going to get death penalty.

Ram Singh and the four other accused in the case were being tried by a fast-track court here. Besides them, a sixth accused, who has been declared a juvenile, is facing proceedings before the Juvenile Justice Board.
