NEW DELHI: Terming the latest terror strike in Baramulla as an attempt by Pakistan “to engineer attack on India despite last week’s surgical strike”, the Congress party has asked the Centre to pursue an aggressive diplomacy, especially with China, to fully isolate Islamabad.

While continuing to back the Centre, the main opposition party asserted on Monday that the Indian Army had carried out similar surgical strikes even during the UPA regime.

At the AICC official briefing, party’s deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha Anand Sharma said: “The thinking that this is the first time the Indian Army has retaliated against a terror attack is not correct…Our armed forces have always responded as per the need...”
