Supreme Court to hear Naroda Patiya riots case on Thursday

Kodnani was sentenced to a life term on August 29, 2012, along with Bajrang Dal leader Babu Bajrangi and 29 others in connection with the riots.

Supreme Court to hear  Naroda Patiya riots case on Thursday
NEW DELHI: SC will hear on Thursday a plea by some victims in the 2002 Naroda Patiya riots against the out-ofturn hearing of an appeal filed by former minister Maya Kodnani against her conviction in the case. Kodnani, a minister in then Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi’s government and the Naroda area legislator in the state assembly, was sentenced to a life term on August 29, 2012, along with Bajrang Dal leader Babu Bajrangi and 29 others in connection with the riots. Most of them have filed appeals. While these appeals are yet to be heard, a high court bench has since begun hearing Kodnani’s plea.
