NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has refused to deal with the issue of reservations in promotions on an urgent basis and has posted it for further hearing on August 3, despite a plea by attorney general KK Venugopal that confusion over conflicting court judgements have held back lakhs and lakhs of promotions. “Promotions are being held up because of conflicting judgements,” Venugopal told a three-judge bench led by CJI Dipak Misra.

The CJI, however, listed the case for further hearing only on August 3. CJI Misra also refused to pass any interim orders allowing reservations in promotions to continue in the interim.
