NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday sought reports and scientific studies on the impact of cell phone tower radiation on public health. A bench comprising chief justice of India TS Thakur and justices R Banumathi and UU Lalit was hearing a petition filed by a Delhi residents' group on the possible implications of emissions from such towers.

Lawyer for the phone companies L Nageswar Rao contested the view that they were harmful, insisting that there was no conclusive proof of this. He said norms in India were more stringent than in the rest of the world.

But the bench permitted lawyer ML Verma to produce evidence to the contary within two weeks
