Supreme Court refuses to hear 2 more pleas against Sasikala

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday declined to hear two more petitions seeking to stall AIADMK general secretary VK Sasikala from being sworn in as the Tamil Nadu chief minister.

Signalling its intent to keep off the troubled political waters in the state, a bench led by Chief Justice of India JS Khehar declined to hear one PIL urgently.

Another PIL raising a constitutional issue of whether a nonlegislator could be made a chief minister was also politely declined. Sasikala’s fate would now depend on the ruling of another bench which would rule on disproportionate assets of the late CM Jayalalithaa. Sasikala is a co-accused in the case.
