Supreme Court refuses Kerala’s plea on Mullaperiyar dam dispute

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has refused to entertain the plea of Kerala government, urging the court to appeal to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to intervene in the Mullaperiyar dam row.

A five-judge bench comprising Justice DK Jain, Justice RM Lodha, Justice Justice Deepak Verma, Justice CK Prasad and Justice Anil R Dave on Thursday refused to take into account the Kerala government’s plea after Tamil Nadu’s government objected to it.

Counsel Raju Ramachandran on behalf of TN government said any appeal to the Prime Minister on the issue “could be considered at a later stage but it was too premature now”.
