NEW DELHI | KOLKATA: The Supreme Court has issued bailable warrants against Calcutta High Court judge CS Karnan for failing to appear before it in a suo moto case initiated by the top court for his intemperate remarks alleging corruption in higher judiciary.

Justice Karnan, however, showed no signs of relenting. Addressing a news conference in Kolkata on Friday, he reiterated his charge that he was being victimised. “There has been no inquiry, no discussion. This is intentional procedure initiated against me because I belong to the lower caste. I am a Dalit. There are several such inquiries pending against other judges.

They were never prosecuted; because most of them are either Brahmins or belong to upper caste. I had made a representation to the prime minister of the country voicing my grievances. Whatever allegations I have made, I have evidence to support them. The evidence is lying in the Madras High Court. Moreover, there can be an inquiry," Karnanclaimed.
