NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court dismissing a PIL seeking probe into the documents allegedly seized by CBI from two companies has caused visible unease in the Congress camp as it now fears the corruption charge Rahul Gandhi had levelled against Primer Minister Narendra Modi, based on the reported contents of these alleged documents, will now become politically untenable, making Gandhi and Congress prone to BJP’s counter attack.

Even after the court order, Gandhi said in his address at a Congress convention that Modi was yet to respond to the charges he levelled against the PM.

In his comments on court order, Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala tried to strike a brave face by saying, “He (Modi) needs to answer it (RG Charge) as this is an issue of answerability before 125 crore Indians and doesn’t require a certificate from any court. BJP and Modiji must answer,” he said.

Trying to distance Congress from Prashant Bhushan’s court plea in the case, Surjewala further said: “Congress never went to court or ever demanded a judicial probe. Prashant Bhushan (who filed the case) is infact a bitter critic of Congress....”
