Supreme Court asks Board to check air quality inside court
The Supreme Court can’t wait for the government to get cracking on air pollution, and has begun the exercise of putting its house in order.

In the first step towards taking corrective action to ensure better air quality inside the court, the top court has asked the Central Pollution Control Board ( CPCB) to check the air quality levels in and around the complex.
Four air quality monitoring instruments were seen at strategic corners of the court complex on Friday. One inside the majestic court hall 1 in which CJI TS Thakur was holding court on Friday. The other three were at three other points which were perceived as most polluted.
Court sources said the air quality was being checked under instructions.
“Yes, we have initiated an exercise for conducting a study on the pollution level in the court premises. The CPCB is doing the job and the results are awaited,” said registrar Chirag Bhanu Pratap Singh. SC officials refused to elaborate any further.
