Supreme Court allows N Srinivasan to take over, orders independent probe into IPL betting
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Tuesday permitted BCCI President elect N Srinivasan to take over as board president after creating an independent panel which will probe the match fixing and betting allegations in IPL. Srinivasan's son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan and the Rajasthan Royals will be probed.

The court asked Srinivasan to stay away from the probe and not interfere with it. The panel, comprising formed judge Mukul Mudgal, govt law officer L. Nageshwar Rao and senior lawyer Nilay Dutta will finsih the probe in four months and submit it to the court.

The court will take consequential action on the probe. This might prove problematic for Srinivasan later. The earlier BCCI probe had exonerated him, his son in law and Rajasthan Royal owner Raj Kundra paving the way for him to be reelected to the post.
