Support to AAP not unconditional: Kiran Walia
NEW DELHI: A day ahead of AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal's expected decision on the issue of formation of government in Delhi, Congress said tonight its support to AAP was "not unconditional".

Senior Congress leader of Delhi Kiran Walia told a channel "we have said we will not bring down your government. But the support is not for always. There's always the scope for a rethink if they don't deliver."

Congress, after being routed in Delhi Assembly polls, had said it would be giving unconditional support to AAP to form the government.

AICC General Secretary and in-charge of Delhi, Shakeel Ahmed, had said "a number of senior leaders of Delhi are of the opinion that we should give unconditional support to AAP to form a government. They believe that we should extend outside support to it.

The Delhi polls threw up a fractured mandate with no party securing majority in the 70-member assembly and BJP emerging as the single largest party with 32 seats. BJP's ally Akali Dal has one MLA.

AAP has got 28 seats in the assembly followed by Congress' eight.

Despite emerging as the single largest party with 31 seats, BJP has declined the offer of the Lt Governor to form the government citing that it did not have the numbers.

The Lt Governor has already recommended that Delhi be put under President's rule with the new assembly in suspended animation among other options.

Meanwhile, AAP today held public meetings at around 80 places in the city to gauge the opinion of the people on formation of government with the "unconditional" support from Congress, the reponse for which so far has been in affirmative.

"I have held meetings in three places today and most of the people who attended said we should form the government. If the sentiment is same in all the wards, then respecting the people's verdict, we may form the government but the final decision would be taken only after Sunday," Manish Sisodia, MLA from Patparganj constituency, said after a meeting in Khichripur village.
