NEW DELHI: Indian-American astronaut Sunita Williams arrived at Ahmedabad airport in Gujarat on Thursday morning.

Sunita is on a week-long visit to India and is eagerly looking forward to spend a lot of time with her relatives.

She also plans to visit her ancestral home Jhulasan and Sabarmati Ashram.

She has broken the world record for the longest stay by a woman in space, carrying out research at the International Space Station from December 2006 to June 2007.

Perhaps the main highlight of her week-long Indian sojourn will be her presentation at the 58th International Astronautical Congress, which begins at Hyderabad on September 24.

Sunita Williams will also be conferred with the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Vishwa Pratiba Award on September 21 during her visit to Gujarat.
