Sunday ET: Rahul Gandhi meets slain cop Zia ul Haque's wife

LUCKNOW: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi met Parveen Azad, the widow of slain deputy SP Zia ul Haque who was allegedly killed by the henchmen of Kunda MLA Raghuraj Pratap Singh “Raja Bhaiya”.

Gandhi arrived in Gorkahpur on Saturday and then drove to the Deoria district to meet Parveen Azad and also visited the burial ground of the slain officer. He assured the family that it will get justice and that the CBI would conduct an impartial probe into the officer’s murder.

Azad said that she hoped that Singh is arrested soon or else the truth would not emerge. The DSP, Haq, who was posted in Kunda, Pratapgarh was killed on March 2, when he had gone to Ballipur village to probe the murder of its village head Nanhe Lal Yadav.
