SUNDAY ET: Journalists allege land grab by Haryana government for DLF
NEW DELHI: A group of journalists has accused the Haryana government of trying to snatch a two-acre plot that belongs to a housing society of which they are members.

These journalists are members of the National Media Centre Cooperative House Building Society. They allege that the government of Haryana, through the department of town and country planning and other government agencies, has been attempting to take over land.

Senior journalists such as Jug Suraiya, Kulwant Singh, Inderjit Badhwar and others alleged the land has been handed over to DLF by the Haryana government for two projects-the Rapid Metro Rail Gurgaon and the road expansion of NH 8.

"This takeover is patently illegal and the Bhupinder Hooda government has gone out of its way to break and bend rules to snatch land... to benefit one large private developer, DLF," said Kulwant Singh, general secretary, NMC society.

A DLF spokesman refuted the charges saying the company has not been given any land by the government. Instead, the land was used as per the provisions of the law for “public purpose”. The said land was part of a green belt, he said. Haryana government officials could not be reached for comment.
