Sunanda Pushkar murder probe: Shashi Tharoor may be quizzed this week

NEW DELHI: Former Union minister Shashi Tharoor arrived in Delhi on Sunday noon, indicating that he may join the police investigation into his wife's murder sometime this week.

Although he did not speak to the media after his arrival at IGI airport around 1.45pm, Tharoor told reporters he was bound to cooperate with police while taking a Jet Airways flight from Kochi.

Tharoor is staying in his house in Lodhi estate, south Delhi, amid tight security. Incidentally, police commissioner B S Bassi also stays in the locality, just a few houses away.

The MP is likely to be questioned sometime this week along with a politician and a senior police officer, a source said on Sunday. Just exactly who they are hasn't been revealed yet.

The source also said that a formal notice may not be served to Tharoor if he becomes available to record his statement before police. But some pending paperwork will have to be completed first, as police hadn't served Tharoor a notice, deciding to question everybody else before questioning him, an officer said.

Tharoor was staying at an Ayurveda treatment centre in Guruvayur for the last 15 days.
