Sunanda Pushkar case: Shashi Tharoor alleges police assault on aide to get confession
NEW DELHI: Less than two months before the Delhi Police said Sunanda Pushkar was indeed murdered and registered a case of murder, her husband and Congress MP Shashi Tharoor had accused the police of “assaulting” and “intimidating” his domestic help into “confessing” that he and Tharoor had killed her. The Delhi Police have formed a special investigation team on Wednesday to probe the case.

“I was shocked and appalled to learn that in the course of the 16-hour interrogation, my domestic helper Narayan Singh was repeatedly physically assaulted by one of your officers,” Tharoor wrote in an email sent to Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi on Nov 12. ET has seen a copy of the email. As per Bassi, Tharoor’s claims were found false.
