Sumitra Mahajan chairs session of global summit of speakers in UNGA

UNITED NATIONS: Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan has chaired a session of the global summit of speakers of Parliament in the UN General Assembly here, considered a significant honour.

Mahajan, who was here to participate in the Fourth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, was accorded the honour of chairing a session of the conference in the General Assembly hall on September 2.

During the session chaired by Mahajan, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman P J Kurien had addressed the conference organised on the theme of 'Placing Democracy at the Service of Peace and Sustainable Development, Building the World the People Want.'

Mahajan chaired the session as acting President.
