Sukna land scam case not pleaded meticulously: VK Singh
GHAZIABAD: Former Army chief and Union Minister Gen VK Singh, against whom the Armed Forces Tribunal (AFT) had made some carping comments in the Sukna land scam case, on Sunday said the case was not pleaded meticulously and demanded that the government should challenge the decision.

Asked about acquittal of Lt Gen P K Rath by the AFT, Singh said, "The case on behalf of Indian Army was not pleaded meticulously and the facts were misinterpreted by the tribunal giving benefit to Lt Gen Rath."

Rath was given a clean chit by the tribunal. Singh said the government should make an appeal against the decision of the tribunal.

"It is ignominious for the Indian Army as officers of the rank of Lieutenant General are going to jails. Corruption should be nipped in the bud in Army," he said at a press conference here.

To a query about RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat's stand on 'love jihad', Singh said, "He (Bhagwat) is a social reformer, and he is perseverely working day and night for eradication of various evils prevalent in Indian society."
