NEW DELHI: For the second consecutive day in his new term in the Rajya Sabha, former Union minister Subramanian Swamy has emerged as the agent provocateur for opposition Congress which has resorted to stalling the proceedings of the House within minutes of his speech.

“Problem is this new gift of the BJP who will not allow this House to function,” Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad said in response to deputy chairman PJ Kurien’s appeal to Congress to calm down after its members erupted into protest against Swamy’s remarks.

“It is only second day and twice his remarks have been expunged. There are 365 days in a year and how many times we are going to expunge. This man doesn’t know the difference between street language and Parliamentary language. He does not let his hair go grey; he refuses to learn,” Azad said in an apparent dig at the Chair’s suggestion that Congress members should go back to their seats after his announcement to expunge objectionable remarks by Swamy.
