Students vandalized colleges in North Bengal
Two groups of students clashed in Raiganj university campus in North 24 Paragana district today over the admission process.
Even though, police personnel were posted inside the campus, initially they remained silent spectator. The police acted and chased the goons after, adequate forces were sent.
A senior professor of the university confirmed that bombs were hurled by the 'outsiders' inside the campus and police were immediately informed to control the situation. A huge force rushed to the spot and had to lathicharge to bring peace in the area, added the professor on condition of anonymity. The admission process was halted following the violent clash.
Meanwhile in a separate incident, students in uniform created havoc in a college in Malda after two groups clashed over possession of a room in the school premises. The members of TMCP and CP vandalized the principal’s office and administrative building in the premises. A senior teacher sustained serious injuries on his head while trying to stop the students from ransacking the college building. State education minister Partha Chatterjee ordered an inquiry into both the incidents.
