Students-Police clash: Manipur blocks internet

With tension running high in Manipur following scuffle between students of Manipur University and police, the BJP-led state government ordered the suspension of all the telecom services except voice calls for five days.

Manipur University Students’ Union (MUSU) has launched agitation demanding the removal of the vice-chancellor alleging administrative negligence and carelessness in running the university.

The students of the varsity are protesting for last 50 days. The agitation has been supported by teaching staff of the university. The state had witnessed 48 hours of bandh demanding removal of AP Pandey from the post of the vice-chancellor.


The Fact Finding Committee constituted by the human resources development ministry to look into the allegations against the VC has been reconstituted following protests from students.
