Students on vacation, headmaster turns classrooms into poultry farm

RAMPUR: Summer vacations in a primary school in Darshanpur in Rampur district turned out to be a meaty affair after it came to light that the headmaster in connivance with the gram pradhan’s husband was running a poultry farm in classrooms. Other livestock of the villagers were also found tethered on the school premises. After the matter was reported to the district magistrate, the headmaster was suspended and a probe has been ordered.

Rampur basic shiksha adhikari Sarva Nand said, “After a video of the incident was uploaded and the matter was reported to the DM, we conducted an inquiry and found the headmaster, Faryad Ali Khan, and one more teacher guilty. They failed to report or save school premises from encroachers as other livestock were also found tethered there.”

“We have also issued a notice to the block education officer.The department is embarrassed by the entire episode and will never tolerate such irregularities in schools,” the BSA added.


When TOI contacted the suspended teacher Prayag Kumar, he said, “After the summer vacation began on May 21, we locked the school building and handed over the keys to the village head who also heads the school management committee. He stabbed us in the backthough.”

The young teacher said it was his first posting and he will have to carry the burden of this blemish on his career.

District magistrate Shiv Sahay Awasthi said, “Education department has been instructed to inspect all the school buildings and premises in the district. FIRs will be lodged against offenders if any encroachment is found.”
