VADODARA: Students from neighbouring states and other parts of Gujarat, who are pursuing higher education in various universities here are happy that they have been permitted to leave for their native places to cast their vote for the Lok Sabha polls on Thursday.

Wards of various faculties of M S University of Baroda, Parul Educational Institute and Suman Deep Vidyapith (deemed university),Sardar Patel University,Vallabhvidyanagar and other educational institutions located in central Gujarat have already left the city for exercising their franchise with many of them being first-timers.

"I am excited as for the first time I am getting right to vote which is going to decide the fate of country," Vatsala Singh, a 2nd year MBBS student of M S University told reporters today before leaving for Sikar town near Jaipur in Rajasthan.

Another student Hiral Shah from Dungarpur said, this parliamentary election has generated much interest... I want my MP to do work for the development of his constituency. This will be my first experience of voting.

Dona, a home science faculty student in a city college said that she was thrilled to go her hometown and vote.

Meanwhile, university officials and educationists have appealed to students to turn out in large numbers and excercise their right.
