President Pratibha Patil on Saturday urged the student community to work hard and make India a knowledge superpower.

PUNE: President Pratibha Patil on Saturday urged the student community to work hard and make India a knowledge superpower.

"The educational institutions in the country should encourage development of analytical faculty of students in these knowledge and technology-driven times" she said while inaugurating the new building of an engineering college at Baramati near here.

Patil said India was a leading country in the field of technology and underlined the need for continued emphasis on innovation and research.

She said to enhance skilled human resource it was important to have a higher number of engineering colleges in the country.

Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayanan and Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar were prominent among those present on the occasion.
