Struggle against Haryana SGMC will continue, says Prakash Singh Badal
AMRITSAR: Shiromani Akali Dal patron and Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today said the struggle against the formation of a separate Gurdwara Management Committee for Haryana will continue.

Addressing a press conference here late tonight, after the party's core committee meeting, Badal said, "struggle against the HSGMC would continue but in a peaceful manner."

Badal said that decision of Akal Takht was binding on the party as no party worker or Sikh leader could "dare to disobey the directives issued from the supreme authority in Sikh religion.

"Akal Takht has stopped the Sikh community and all political parties to hold rally or convention as it may disturb the situation, and every Sikh would obey it," he said.

The Akali stalwart said that SAD cancelled World Sikh Conference, scheduled on Sunday at Manji Sahib Hall Golden Temple premises, after Akal Takht directives.

Meanwhile, Shiromani Akali Dal today unanimously decided not to hold proposed World Sikh Conference tomorrow following the edict of Akal Takht which directed SAD and Sikhs in Haryana to call off their conventions.

"The core committee (of SAD) unanimously announced that the decision of Akal Takht was supreme for Sikh community so it has been decided to follow the decision and there will be no Panthic Convention on July 27," said Harcharn Bains Secretary SAD in a statement issued here.

The committee also condemned the unfortunate incident in Saharanpur and extended a strong appeal for communal harmony and peace across the country.
