Met department issues 'very heavy rain' warning for Mumbai; NDRF teams on standby
A number of areas witnessed incidents of waterlogging as heavy downpour lashed the maximum city.
These are pre-monsoon showers, according to the meteorological department. Meanwhile, the South West Monsoon has become active over the southern states with heavy rains lashing the region since Wednesday night. The monsoon reached the Goa and Konkan coast today.

— ANI (@ANI) 1528356181000The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) administration has taken a number of precautionary measures to tackle any heavy rainfall situation. BMC has cancelled weekly offs of its officers due to heavy rain warnings.
On the steps being taken in case of heavy rains, the BMC said three teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) will be stationed at Parel, Mankhurd (for eastern suburbs) and Andheri Sports Complex (for western suburbs). They are equipped with walkie-talkies and flood rescue material.

Central Railway authorities said they will take a call on whether to curtail services in case of heavy rains to ensure commuters are not stranded.
"The intensity of rains would keep on increasing over Mumbai and by June 8, we expect a significant increase in the rains leading to few heavy to very heavy spells. These heavy rains may lead to flash floods and may cause traffic snarls and chaos in the day to day life. Thus, people are advised to take adequate measures and precautions to avoid struggling with the chaotic situation," the weather agency had forecast.
