Stop pvt practise: HC tells govt doctors

The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has expressed strong resentment over the continuing private practice by state government doctors and asked them to close down their clinics or face action.

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has expressed strong resentment over the continuing private practice by state government doctors and asked them to close down their clinics or face action.

"We are informed that some of the doctors covered by the ban order on private practise are clandestinely undertaking such practise, which, besides being unethical is a clear violation of court's directions also," a division bench of Chief Justice B A Khan and Justice Bashir A Kirmani observed yesterday.

"Their respective controlling officers are directed to furnish particulars of such doctors to this court for appropriate action in terms of orders already passed in the matter," the court said.

On the clampdown on unregistered nursing homes and drug stores, it directed the State Vigilance Organisation to furnish an up-to-date status report regarding checks and inspections conducted by them to ensure compliance of the court's directions for their closure.
