Stop 'misinformation' on Amarnath row: BJP to Congress
The BJP unit in J&K asked Congress to stop misinformation campaign against it and the Sangh Parivar over the Amarnath land agitation.
Party Vice-President Hari Om told reporters here that the ongoing agitation for restoration of land to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) was a struggle of the people of all religions.
Reacting to the statement of AICC spokesperson Jayanthi Natrajan that BJP and Sang Parivar must call off the stir he said "the agitation is not in the hands of the BJP and the Sang Parivar but they are supporting it. Hence the question of calling it off does not arise."
About Natarajan's contention that the stir was called on a "non-issue" he said "the movement was the reflection of the sentiments of crores of people."
On "cross border" trade by the Kashmiris (in the wake of economic blockade) he said, the Centre should not toy with the idea as it would have serious repercussions.
"Kashmir's trade links with New Delhi and other parts of the country, including Jammu, would weaken if the government decides in favour of the idea. This will also lend credence to separatists' intentions," he noted.
