Stop ceasefire violations: Congress leader Karan Singh to Pakistan
NEW DELHI: Amid continued ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir, senior Congress leader Karan Singh today urged the neighbouring country to stop the firing so that the border remains peaceful and safe.

Singh, who had served Jammu and Kashmir as Sadar-i-Riyasat and Governor, expressed deep sympathy to the victims of firing and said an atmosphere of tension and confrontation was growing which must not be allowed to lead to a major flare-up.

"The increasingly frequent incidents of firing in Jammu and Kashmir from across the international border, as well as the LoC, to which our forces are surely giving an adequate response, are a matter of deep concern," he said.

In a statement, he also urged Pakistan to stop the ceasefire violations.

"A general atmosphere of tension and confrontation is growing. This must not be allowed to lead to a major flare-up, and I urge Pakistan to cease the violations so that the border remains peaceful and safe.

"I express my deep sympathy to the victims of these incidents and trust that the state and central governments will take necessary action to compensate and rehabilitate the sufferers, and ensure the safety of our citizens," he said.
