Police have arrested nine Congress workers close to leader of opposition, Ajay Singh, for the attack on chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s Jan Ashirwaad Yatra bus on Sunday night, the state home minister Bhupendra Singh said on Monday.

The bus was hit by stones in Churhat, which is the constituency of Congress MLA Ajay Singh. “Congress wanted to kill the CM...this attack was for that. This shows that the Congress can stoop to any low to come to power,” Bhupendra Singh said.

The CM repeated the allegation, saying Congress wanted to see him dead. “Congress is thirsting for my blood. This was never seen in Madhya Pradesh politics earlier,” the CM said.

Ajay Singh, however, denied the charges, saying the chief minister’s unpopularity is behind such public anger.
