NEW DELHI: The government has constituted a special task force ( STF) to examine the divergent recommendations given by various stakeholders and especially the Law Commission of India on the electoral reforms.

Citing that the implementation of electoral reforms “is a complex procedural exercise”, the Ministry of Law and Justice has informed the Lok Sabha Committee that it would not be possible to give a “definite time frame” for implementation.

The task force comprises of a director and two officers to examine all the recommendations given by the Law Commission and to suggest which Acts need to be amended in this regard. The task force will apprise the government of a “roadmap” in the direction of electoral reforms.
