STF deployed to search missing cleric in Muzzafarnagar

MUZAFFARNAGAR: Special Task Force has been deployed to search the missing cleric at Kawal village in the district, police said here today.

STF team led Deputy Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar reached here from Meerut yesterday and began their search operation. The whereabouts of the cleric Maulana Sadat Ali is yet be known.

Ali, who preaches at a madarsa in Rajasthan, was missing since Thursday, when he had gone to Muzaffarnagar railway station to book a ticket.

On Friday, several people protested at a local madarsa in the Kawal village against the alleged failure of police to trace the cleric.

The security has also been tightened in the area and Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) has been deployed as a precautionary measure.
