Steps to speed up land acquisition for Kannur airport
The Kerala cabinet on Tuesday decided to speed up the process of land acquisition for the proposed Kannur International Airport by placing the project under Fast Track system,Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala cabinet on Tuesday decided to speed up the process of land acquisition for the proposed Kannur International Airport by placing the project under Fast Track system,Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said here today.
It was decided to complete the land acquisition process in six months, Achuthanandan told reporters after a cabinet meeting.
Additional posts would be created to speed up the process, Achuthanandan said.
The cabinet also approved the Articles of Association e date for the project's foundation stone laying ceremony would be announced soon, he said to a question.
A special cell to carry out relief operations for victims of Endosulfan pesticide at Kasargode would be opened, Achuthanandan said.
The Cabinet decided to recommend to the Governor to convene a special assembly session from September 4 to 20 exclusively for taking up few legislations, he said.
About 14 ordinances on various subjects were re-promulgated repeatedly and these ordinances had to be replaced with legislations, he said, adding the session was meant for that.
