Statements of Airworks and Reliance officials to be recorded

MUMBAI: Statements of Airworks company and Reliance group officials will be recorded in connection with the death of Bharat Borge, a key witness in Anil Ambani helicopter sabotage case, a top Government Railway Police (GRP) official said on Wednesday.

"Though we have registered an accidental death case, it is not clear if it was a suicide or an accident. We will record the statements of officials of Airworks, where Borge worked, and Reliance officials who questioned him a day before his death," GRP Commissioner Ashok Sharma told the media..

"According to the eyewitnesses, Borge had bent before being hit by train. May be he was trying to escape," Sharma said.

"The note, which we recovered, also does not mention anything about suicide. There are many unanswered questions which will unfold during investigation," he said.

Borge, who was a technician with Airworks, the company which was maintaining Ambani's helicopter, was found dead on railway track last evening between Vile Parle and Andheri stations.

Borge was among the first persons to have spotted the fuel cap of Ambani's helicopter open on Thursday last and found pebbles and gravel inside.

"So far we have recorded the statements of gateman Gopichand Pawar, guard Dilip Kumar, motorman Pillay, station master Sabnis, shopkeepers Ashish Yadhav and Nagesh," he added.
