State government charts Rs 5000 crore water pipeline project for Ujjain, Shajapur, Dewas

The project would benefit 1513 villages and 27 towns in the three districts, MP Public Health Engineering Minister, Gaurishanker Bisen said.

BHOPAL: To overcome chronic water shortage, the state government has charted out an ambitious project costing Rs 5,000 crore to supply water from Narmada river to the districts of Ujjain, Shajapur and Dewas.

The work would get underway in 2014, Madhya Pradesh Public Health Engineering Minister, Gaurishanker Bisen, said.

The project would benefit 1513 villages and 27 towns in the three districts, the Minister said in a press statement.

It had been conceived keeping in mind population projection for 2044, the statement added.

The Minister said that 1332 km of pipeline will be laid across the three districts.
