Tamil Nadu IT Minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan (PTR) made headlines after an unusually candid response in the Assembly, admitting a lack of funds and jurisdiction to set up an IT park. Speaker Appavu advised PTR to address such concerns privately with CM MK Stalin.

At a book launch the next day, Stalin publicly cautioned PTR, advising him to wield his oratory skills carefully to avoid giving fodder to the opposition. PTR, once a star finance minister and a sharp critic of the Modi government, has kept a low profile since being reassigned to IT ministry following a leaked audio controversy. Party insiders now expect a possible comeback for PTR.

The DMK leadership is closely watching PTR's next moves, as his intellect and articulation are seen as assets in national politics. However, the party is keen to ensure that internal matters are not aired in public, especially with the 2026 Assembly elections inching closer. Stalin's advice reflects both concern and investment in PTR's political future.
