Taking a strict line in August, SC had stayed the declaration of SSC CGL-2017 results saying "it can't permit people benefitting from leaked paper to get into service."
Unable to catch culprits who got benefited for the last year's exam paper leak, the Supreme Court today favoured cancelling of Staff Selection Commission’s graduate-level examination held in 2017. The question papers were allegedly leaked before the exam last year, which led to mass protest and later petition in the apex court.

However, the apex court hasn’t cancelled the exam as of now but has asked the central government for its response.

Taking a strict line in August, Supreme Court had stayed the declaration of SSC CGL-2017 results saying "the entire test was tainted and it can't permit people benefitting from leaked paper to get into service."

"It prima facie appears that the entire SSC system is tainted and entire examinations (2017) are tainted. It can't be believed that the custodian of the examination paper is himself leaking the paper," the bench had said.

Several lakh students appear in the SSC CGL examination and those who qualify, enter government services in C and D Category of jobs.

There were large scale protest by students against the alleged paper leak of CGL exams last year, which led the government to order a CBI probe into the alleged paper leak. The government ordered probe after the SSC recommended an inquiry by the CBI into the allegations of leak of questions of the Combined Graduate Level (Tier-II) Examination 2017.
