Srinagar court summons Farooq, others in JKCA 'Scam'

Abdullah and the co-accused have been asked to appear before the court on August 27.

A special PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) Court in Srinagar has summoned former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah and others in connection with alleged irregularities in Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA).

Abdullah and the co-accused have been asked to appear before the court on August 27.

The development took place after the court took cognisance of a supplementary prosecution complaint (equivalent of a chargesheet) filed by ED on June 4 against Abdullah and others.

Abdullah was questioned by the agency in May this year. Besides Abdullah, others who have been summoned include Ahsan Ahmad Mirza, and Mir Manzoor Gazanffer.

ED in a press statement on Tuesday said the supplementary chargesheet was preceded by three provisional attachment orders dated February 28, 2020, December 18, 2020, and February 25, 2022, attaching therewith movable and immovable assets to the extent of ₹21.55 crore in aggregate belonging to Abdullah, M/s Mirza Sons, Gazanffer, and Mirza.
