S.Emerit, Rameswaram Fishermen Association President, alleged that the Lankan naval men threatened the fishermen at gun point and asked them to go back to the shore.

RAMESWARAM: Sri Lankan naval personnel allegedly threatened and chased away Tamil Nadu fishermen when they were fishing near Katchatheevu early this morning, a local representative of the Fishermen's Association said.

S.Emerit, Rameswaram Fishermen Association President, alleged that the Lankan naval men threatened the fishermen at gun point and asked them to go back to the shore.

They also allegedly damaged fishing nets of more than 20 boats.

The fishermen, who ventured into the sea in more than 1000 boats, stopped fishing and returned to the shore, he added.
