RAMESWARAM: The judicial custody of 16 fishermen from Tamil Nadu, arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy in November and early this month, was today extended two courts in the island nation.

T Sasuraja, Rameswaram fishermen organisation president said six fishermen from this town, arrested on November 26 off Katchatheevu islet for allegedly crossing the International Maritime Boundary Line, were produced in a court in Mannar, where magistrate Alex Grace extended their remand to Dec 30.

Ten fishermen of Karaikal, who were arrested on Dec 10 on a similar charge were produced before a court in Paruthiturai today and magistrate Subramani ordered extension of their remand till January 4, he said.
