Sreesanth will ensure Congress victory in Thiruvananthapuram: Shashi Tharoor

KOCHI: By deciding to field cricketer Sreesanth in Thiruvananthapuram, the BJP is sending out a message that the Congress candidate will win, said MP Shashi Tharoor.

Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, Tharoor said he likes Sreesanth as a cricketer.

But in Kerala, celebrities like film stars and sportsmen have not done well in elections, he pointed out.

The middle-class population and professionals in Thiruvananthapuram are unlikely to vote for a sports person, he said. He added Sreesanth should have contested from some other constituency and not Thiruvananthapuram.
