SP's Ram Gopal Yadav demands probe into wealth creation by Mayawati's brother Anand Kumar

LUCKNOW: Senior Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav has called for a high level probe into the wealth amassed by former Chief Minister Mayawati and her brother Anand Kumar. He said that the Bahujan Samaj Party President Mayawati's brother Anand Kumar had created immense wealth to the tune of Rs 750 crores and needs to be probed.

Yadav who is the General Secretary of the Samajwadi Party said that he had been raising this issue ever since Mayawati became Chief Minister in 2007 and now some newspapers had reported it also recently. He said that BJP leader Kirit Somaiyya had also highlighted the issue.

Yadav demanded that the Finance ministry and Enforcement Directorate initiate a probe into the assets created by Mayawati's brother through a maze of several shell companies. He said that the rule of Mayawati between 2007 to 2012 was one of the most corrupt regimes anywhere in the country. He said that only a high level multi pronged probe would bring out the truth and expose the corrupt ways of Mayawati.

ET had reported last week how several companies floated by Mayawati's brother Anand Kumar seen their net worth going up manifold within a short span immediately after she became CM in 2007. Several firms floated by Anand Kumar had amassed land and cash reserves between 2007-12 when Maaywati ruled over the state.
