'Spend funds under Special Component Plan without diverting to other heads'

PUDUCHERRY: Welfare and Tourism Minister P Rajavelu today said he had instructed officials of various departments to ensure that funds earmarked under Special Component Plan for welfare of Scheduled Castes be used for schemes the money is meant for.

In a release here, he said he had reviewed allocation of funds at a joint meeting with officials of the departments and sought an explanation from some of them for the slow progress of work and utilisation of the money.

There should be no diversion of funds from SCP to other general heads as the SCP is meant for the welfare and well being of the Scheduled Castes, he said.

SCP is a sub-plan of the government created exclusively for promotion of amenities in rural, semi-urban and urban pockets for the well being of SCs.
