Special flights fly in the rich and famous

A nondescript hamlet of Motikhavdi, situated on the coast bordering the Gulf of Kutch, was unusually abuzz with activity since morning bigwigs India Inc arrived in Jamnagar district of Gujarat.

JAMNAGAR: A nondescript hamlet of Motikhavdi, situated on the coast bordering the Gulf of Kutch, was unusually abuzz with activity since morning bigwigs India Inc arrived in Jamnagar district of Gujarat. They were there to attend a gathering of Young Presidents��� Organisation (YPO).

Eight chartered flights belonging to the Reliance Group and two other airplanes leased from Jet Airways and Indian Airlines made about 16 sorties between Mumbai and Jamnagar to ferry the bigwigs for the event organised to facilitate an healthy interaction among the India Inc.

The head of the RIL empire Mukesh Ambani was among the first to arrive. Accompanied by the chairman of Bharti group, Sunil Mittal, the RIL chief flew down in his Rs 242-crore private jet which he had gifted to his wife Neeta Ambani last year.

The guests, Ratan Tata, Sunil Mittal, Sashi Ruia, Kumar Mangalam Birla, Gautam Singhania, Azim Premji, KV Kamath, Anand Mahindra, Adi Godrej, Shivinder Singh and Malvinder Singh and Nandan Nilekani descend on the picturesque landscape developed by Reliance in and around Motikhavdi.

Four helicopters stationed at Jamnagar airport ferried the guests to Motikhavdi since early morning. The guests were ushered into Jamnagar by a group of about 40 officials of Reliance, who were positioned at the airport.

The dignitaries were welcomed with a sumptuous lunch at the venue before being taken around the Reliance���s petroleum refinery which is the third largest refinery in the world at any single location. After proceeding to get a feel of the ���green belt��� of the refinery, the guests had a leisurely interactive session with Karan Johar and Shahrukh Khan in the evening.

Other stars who made a soft landing at Jamnagar included, Juhi Chawla and her husband Jay Mehta, Vinod Khanna, Yash Chopra, BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) vice-president Rajiv Shukla. The day ended with a king-size dinner followed by an eye-catching cultural programme.
