KARIMGANJ: The Border Security Force's Inspector General of Mizoram and Cachar Frontier Dinesh Kumar Upadhyaya today said that he would pay special attention to prevent infiltration, smuggling and trans-border crimes.

Upadhyaya, who assumed charge on May 19, said that he would also pay special attention towards maintaining cordial relationship with the counterpart Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).

He also directed troops under his command to maintain good and cordial relations with civil population residing in border areas, a press release issued by BSF said here.

Upadhyaya is a decorated officer of the 1984-batch, a recipient of President Police Medal for Distinguish Service and Police Medal for Meritorious Service.

He has served in various important assignments both in Command and Staff Level and has served in almost all the international borders, including fighting against militancy in the Kashmir valley.

He had also served in the elite Special Protection Group (SPG) and was in the close protection team of Prime Minister of India.
