Special approach to solve problems confronting Adivasis in Assam: CM Sarbananda Sonowal

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal emphasised on special approach in solving the problems of the Adivasis.

Adivasi National Convention Committee, an umbrella organisation of 14 organisations met the chief minister.

Sonowal said that the Government will adopt a special mechanism for the all-round development of the Adivasi people of the State. He also said, “Adivasi people of Assam needs a fillip for socio-cultural and educational development and the Government will design a special mechanism for integrating them into Government’s agenda of priorities”.

The members of the committee also sought Chief Minister’s intervention to facilitate the process of according Scheduled tribe status to the Adivasis.

Sonowal assured to communicate their demand to the Centre. Chief Minister stressed on skill development of the Adivasi people.
