Spanish foreign minister to arrive in Moscow for talks

Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos will pay a two-day visit to Russia.

MADRID: Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos will pay a two-day visit to Russia for discussing a wide range of political, trade and economic cooperation between two countries.

Presently, as a chairman of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), he will discuss the preparation of the forthcoming visit of Spanish Prime Minister Jose Louis Rodriguez Sapatero to Moscow, which is slated for the last week of September.

The Spanish foreign minister will meet his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov August 30.

"Sergei Lavrov and Miguel Moratinos will exchange views on the Russia-EU cooperation, the work of the Russia-NATO Council as well as the situations in the Middle East, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan," the Russian Foreign Ministry deputy spokesperson Boris Malakhov said.

The sides will discuss a wide range of bilateral political, trade and economic cooperation. Moratinos will also use his trip as an opportunity to offer his assistance in the settlement of the recent air incident that occurred over the Georgian airspace August 6.
