SP supports UPA government but taunts over its troubles

SP has come out in support of the embattled UPA government but couldn't resist taunting Congress over its troubles.

NEW DELHI: SP has come out in support of the embattled UPA government but couldn't resist taunting Congress over its troubles.

Senior party MP Mohan Singh blamed the 'internal politics' of Congress for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's travails over coal block allocations.

"Some people from inside Congress want to remove Manmohan Singh and bring in the Yuvraaj ( Rahul Gandhi). I have my doubts if this politics (the demand for the PM's resignation by BJP) is being played out from within Congress," he said.

Congress, already facing a very hostile opposition was not amused over its ally taking a dig. Party general secretary Janardan Dwivedi was incensed enough to reply that, "there can be no falser imagination than this.

The party has repeated this several times, before the 2009 elections, and even in our manifesto that our PM candidate is Manmohan Singh," said Dwivedi.
