SP revamps fronts in first step towards battle 2022

The Samajwadi Party is “overhauling” its organisation while also reaching out to people to encourage them to get vaccinated, even as the opposition party bides its time till zila panchayat president elections, to hit the ground running for the 2022 assembly polls.

“We have made serious changes to our organisation. Many small workers who never got an opportunity have been forward based on the feedback related to various issues,” SP’s national spokesman Ashutosh Verma told ET.

He said barring the SP’s students wing, presidents of other fronts like the Lohiya Vahini and other arms have been changed.


SP spokesperson Juhi Singh said while the party is waiting for the Covid-19 situation to ease a bit more, local leaders have been instructed to help people get vaccinated.

BJP leaders have criticised the SP and its chief for remaining confined to social media when chief minister Yogi Adityanath toured half the state to understand the situation on the ground.

At the same time, the BJP has begun to mobilise its cadre, with UP BJP chief Swatantra Dev Singh having begun to tour central and western UP districts, where he is also meeting families of BJP workers who have passed away. He toured the districts of Rampur, Meerut and Moradabad on Monday.
